The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has called on President-Elect John Dramani Mahama to integrate sports funding and strategy formulation into his administration's broader plan for economic growth and national development.
In a congratulatory statement signed by SWAG President Kwabena Yeboah, the association emphasized the urgent need for increased sports funding, grassroots development, and job creation within the sector.
They urged the President-Elect to craft a comprehensive sports policy to harness the immense potential of Ghanaian youth while promoting unity and generating national revenue.
“This vision has the potential to unlock the vast talents of Ghanaian youth, promote national unity, and generate significant revenue for the country,” Yeboah explained, underlining the transformative impact a robust sports agenda could have on Ghana's socioeconomic landscape.
The statement also acknowledged Mahama’s pre-election engagement with key sports stakeholders, including SWAG, and praised his commitment to revamping the country’s sports sector.
SWAG expressed its readiness to collaborate with the incoming administration to ensure that sports development receives the attention and investment it deserves.
