The Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) has launched a 24-hour Customer Care Desk aimed at improving client services, strengthening communication, and enhancing the overall performance of the facility.
The initiative is also expected to promote collaboration, teamwork and unity among staff and clients while helping the hospital address concerns promptly and build a stronger public reputation.
Speaking at the launch in Tamale, Chief Executive Officer Dr. Abubakari Bawah Abdulai said the move would improve feedback, responsiveness, and efficiency in service delivery.
He noted that TTH management had implemented several measures to strengthen customer service, including leadership, communication and customer care training for all categories of staff. However, he stressed that the success of the system depended on staff behaviour.
“No system can be successful without personal commitment from each of us. Respect, empathy and professionalism must guide our daily practice.”
Dr. Abdulai highlighted improvements in the supply of cleaning materials to ensure sanitation and hygiene at the facility, as well as enhanced collaboration with the Ghana Water Company Limited to improve water availability.
He added that the number of oxygen ports across wards and emergency units had been significantly increased to boost safety, emergency response capacity and overall quality of clinical care.
The CEO also outlined ongoing upgrades to clinical infrastructure, noting that the hospital had recently received medical equipment and consumables including anaesthesia machines, ventilators and other essential supplies, which have already been deployed to the appropriate departments.
He further stated that the expansion of bed capacity at the emergency department had helped reduce the persistent “no-bed syndrome” and improved patient flow and emergency care.
Dr. Abdulai urged all staff to maintain discipline and professionalism, assuring them that the Governing Board and management remained committed to improving working conditions, investing in the system, and recognising exemplary performance.
