The Upper East Regional Minister, Tangoba Abayage, has conceded the Parliamentary seat of the Navrongo Central constituency even before any official declaration by the Electoral Commission (EC)
She contested as Parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and had vowed to defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) but did not succeed.
From the collation of results from various polling stations in the constituency things are looking very gloomy for her and has apparently conceded defeat through a Facebook post.
In a hotly contested race, her mainly challenger was the opposition National Democratic Candidate's Sampson Chiragia.
The Navrongo Central seat has in the past been won by Godfrey Abullu of the NDC, John Setuni Achuliwor, an independent candidate, Clement Tumfuga Bugase, of the NDC, Achuliwor again on the ticket of the NPP, the NDC’s Mark Owen Woyongo and Kofi Adda of the NPP.
Ms. Abayage beat off stiff competition from Aviation Minister Joseph Kofi Addah in the internal NPP elections which was held in April this year.
