A teacher with the Ghana Education Service (GES), has slashed the throat of his brother at Gomoa Obuasi in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region.

Residents are still wondering what pushed the suspect Michael Botchway to kill his own relative James Annan. The bizarre incident which happened on Monday has thrown the entire town into a state of shock.

According to reports, the two men who are graduates from University of Cape Coast (UCC)  and the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) had gone for a funeral of their uncle at Gomoa Obuasi over the weekend.

After a family gathering, Monday morning Michael is said to have asked his brother to accompany him to the farm for some oranges and they later returned home without any incident happening.

While both of them were eating the oranges at home, Michael reportedly told the deceased to straighten his neck for him to kill an ant that was crawling on his body.

Unknowing to James that his brother had an evil intention, he turned and straightened his neck only for Michael to slash the deceased from behind with a sharp knife, creating a deep cut with blood oozing out and while he laid unconscious.

An alarm was raised and some family members rushed to the scene to convey the victim to the hospital, but unfortunately, he died before arrival.

It is unclear what motivated Michael to take the life of his brother.

The suspect is currently in police grips assisting in investigations while the body has been conveyed to the morgue for autopsy.
