Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has brought to a conversation the qualities of the Super Eagles squad—highlighting the superfuity of talents at the disposal of manager Eric Sekou Chelle.

The West African powerhouse have been sweating and stressed for choice picking in every department of the field with notable names like Victor Osimhen and 2024 African Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman.

Both forwards have enjoyed stellar form individually in recent seasons, with Osimhen also being crowned African Footballer of the Year in 2023. Inspite of the assembling of stars in their squad, the Super Eagles have struggled to translate individual brilliance into collective success, especially as they have been battling in the World Cup qualifiers, vying for a ticket to the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

As the squad have been taxed to deliver in games and ultimately qualify the Nigerian national team to the World Cup, with fans and pundits alike calling for greater cohesion and consistency on the pitch, Ndidi believes they will go places.

"We are going places, we've got great talents in the team like the two best African players," Wilfred Ndidi told Proudly Austin. "We've got a great team and great players. We just need to do more as a team instead of individually. We just need to stick together and do more as a team."

Nigeria have not lifted the Africa Cup of Nations since their triumph in 2013 with the heriocs of Sunday Mba clinching their third title. They also failed to qualify for the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar.

In their quest to making it to the 2026 World Cup, they have been under intense scrutiny and pressure due to their inability to deliver as the team currently trails Group C leaders South Africa by six points after six games in which they have lost one, drawn four times and won one. They are left with just four qualifying matches to play.
