President Nana Akufo-Addo has today, 13 February 2019 named Techiman as the regional capital for the newly created Bono East region.

He made this known at the flagstaff house a short while ago.

The capital for Ahafo region will also be named in the course of time today.

After the declaration, the president presented the Constitutional Instrument (C.I.) for the newly-created Bono East to give it legal backing.

This comes despite agitations from the traditional authorities in Nkoranza in the Bono East region.

The president, yesterday (Tuesday February 12, 2019) named Nalerigu and Damango as the regional capitals for the newly created North East and Savanna regions respectively.

The other regions, namely Western North, and Oti will also get their C.I.’s in the course of the week.

Twafohene, Nana Afena Nketia II and Banmuhene, Nana Apenteng Fosu Gyabour ll of the Techiman Traditional Area graced the occasion.

Other dignitaries present included the Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs) for both Techiman South and North, Hon John Kofi Donyina and Hon Peter Mensah.
