Glenn Samm, a protester arrested during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstrations against illegal mining (galamsey), criticized the Ghana Police Service for not living up to their motto, “Service with Integrity.”

In an interview on TV3’s The Day Show, Samm expressed dissatisfaction with his treatment in custody and suggested the police need leadership change, calling for a new Inspector General of Police (IGP) to replace Akuffo-Dampare.

Samm claimed the police blindly follow orders, even if they contradict their judgment. The protests, held at the 37 Military Roundabout in Accra, escalated on September 22, 2024, leading to arrests.

Protesters faced charges including unlawful assembly, assault, and public peace breaches.
