Being on the Internet has its own fair share of benefits as well as pitfalls. While, we get to see our favourite celebs, up and close and adore them, it has also become a platform for trollers who do not refrain from passing hurtful comments on social media. Living in a nation obsessed with celebrities, some of us get so carried away by celebrities and the way they should look.

A lot of celebrities fall victim to fat-shaming, skinny-shaming celebrities, especially women and young mothers. The latest name to be added to the list is Hollywood singer and star Celine Dion who faced the brunt of the same.
Celine Dion, 50, was out and about in Paris attending the Fashion week when she shared a few pictures of herself looking absolutely fit and healthy. But for some "concerned fans", she looked a little too skinny. They expressed their displeasure and very inappropriately, asked her to eat something. This is one comment nobody likes to hear, celebrity or not. Some other comments read,

“Fantastic my dear as usual. But I’m a little-worried bout’ your health, sometimes you look too much skinny and weak. And tired. Are you ok, hunny?”
Another comment read, "Hello Celine I worry, I too lost weight, but please eat, enjoy it and you will look even greater than how you are right now..."

But, the star was ready to have none of it. She immediately clapped back at the trollers and asked them to unfollow her if they don't like what they see. Speaking about it, she said, "If I like it, I don't want to talk about it. Don't bother. Don't take a picture" she said to a media outlet. "If you like it, I'll be there. If you don't, leave me alone."

The singer, for one, has outrightly said that the way she looks now might not impress a lot of people but it is something she has done for herself to feel more feminine and strong, especially since her husband passed away in 2016. In one of the interviews, she mentioned something which is very inspiring :

"I'm doing this for me. I want to feel strong, beautiful, feminine, fierce and sexy." It's always been a part of me … And I’m 50 years old, it’s not to try to take chances, it’s what I want to wear … I want to do whatever I choose to be. I have an opportunity to wear haute couture and the things that make me feel beautiful, strong, fearless, feminine, attractive."

This powerful clapback is the best reply to trollers and haters and also for people to realise that it is absolutely unacceptable to comment on someone's body. For one, you might not know what health condition the person you are shaming is going through and second of all, it is not needed and just plain rude. Indulging in such behaviour does not actually impact the other person's weight but can have a lasting impression on their well-being. Policing somebody about their weight, even the ones who are 'too slim' is unjustified. It can affect their confidence levels, make them more prone to eating disorders and put them at risk of depression and anxiety. So, even if you have been meaning to say something with good intention, take a pause and let people be. No two bodies are the same and there is nothing right or wrong when it comes to looks. Therefore, comments asking skinny people to "eat" or healthy people to stop eating is a very bad thing to do.
