Thomas Partey’s legal team has affirmed the Ghanaian midfielder’s full cooperation with UK authorities amid multiple serious allegations, as he prepares to face trial next month.
Partey, 32, formerly of Arsenal and Atlético Madrid, has been formally charged by the London Metropolitan Police with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. The charges relate to incidents alleged to have occurred between 2021 and 2022.
Speaking on behalf of the footballer, lawyer Jenny Wiltshire stated that Partey has been fully transparent with investigators since the probe began.
“Thomas has fully cooperated with the police throughout their three-year investigation,” Wiltshire said in a statement.
She added that Partey is ready to confront the accusations in court:
“He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name. Given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further.”
Partey is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5 as the legal process formally begins.
