The car park of the Accra Mall came to a standstill last weekend when one of Ghana’s hottest DJs, Mic Smith celebrated his 11th anniversary in the industry with a concert dubbed Shutdown.
DJ Mic Smith rocked the house supported by some of the big music artistes in Ghana including Stonebwoy, Shaker and kojo Cue, Captain Planet, Kwesi Arthur, Kofi Mole and the Ground Up Chale movement, DopeNation, Wendy D Cryme and Gasmilla, as well as Nigerian singer, Praiz, DJ Mic Smith.
Real name, Michael Owusu-Smith, DJ Mic Smith has demonstrated a mastery of his craft in putting Ghanaian and African music on the map.
The celebration, which started last year to mark a decade of his involvement in the music industry, is now becoming a musical festival as this year's event started with a workshop and symposium which was climaxed by the Shutdown concert.
The packed crowd jammed as the musicians treated them to some exciting performances when they mounted the stage.
Speaking with Showbiz after the event, DJ Mic Smith said he was excited about the turn-up at this year’s concert.
“The numbers were very encouraging and I must confess the love shown me by my fellow DJs and artiste friends was very encouraging.
“I would also want to use this opportunity to apologise to all the artistes who came but didn't get the opportunity to perform," he added.
The event was hosted by YFM's Nokus with support from Kojo Manuel, Berima Sean Bills and Sheldon the turnUp.
