The  Presidential Candidate of thePeople’s National Convention(PNC) has appealed to Ghanaians to vote massively for him to win the December 7 elections, saying it is now "time for the Mahamas" to lead the country.

 Dr Edward Mahama,speaking at the Presidential Debate organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation  on Wednesday, pleaded with Ghanaians to give him a chance at this year’s elections.

According to him,   the time has come for Ghanainas to vote for the PNC for it to implement policies which can help reduce unemployment

"The Johns have run their race; their time is over. It’s now the time of the Mahamas. So NDC Mahama goes, PNC Mahama comes. God has ordained this already,"he said.

“In 1996 you gave it to JJ Rawlings, 2000 you gave it to Kufuor. I’m the one of that class waiting to be made president in this time. The Johns have run their race. Jerry John Rawlings gave to John Agyekum Kufuor. John Agyekum Kufuor gave to John Atta Mills. John Atta Mills gave to John Mahama."

Six out of the eight  Presidential candidates seeking to lead the country in 2017 partook  in debate, with the flag bearers of the largest opposition party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo NPP and National Democratic Party (NDP)'s Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings not shwoing up.

The Presidential Debate, addressed   the nation on key issues bordering on governance, security, and corruption.

The debate was held at the Banquet Hall of the State House and was moderated by Dan Afari Yeboah of “What do You Know" fame and Mrs. Selikem Acolatse Apaloo.
