The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the violent clashes at the Omanjor Chief’s Palace during the Homowo Festival on Saturday, August 30, which claimed three lives and left several others injured.

A statement issued by Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, confirmed the arrests.

The first suspect, 35-year-old private security officer Christian Saka Ahianyevi, was picked up on the day of the incident.

The second, Newton Alotey, a 26-year-old dispatch rider, was apprehended a day later.

Police say Ahianyevi was found in possession of a locally manufactured pistol, a cutlass, and other offensive items.

Alotey, on the other hand, was arrested with 18 spent BB cartridges. All the items have been retrieved and secured as evidence.

The suspects are currently in custody assisting with investigations.

Meanwhile, security personnel have been deployed to the affected communities to maintain law and order.

The Command has urged residents to remain calm and cooperate fully with security agencies.

It has also appealed for credible information on other suspects still at large, directing the public to contact police emergency numbers 18555 or 191.
