Two dead, seven injured in Mankessim–Accra highway crash

Two people have died while seven others sustained injuries in a road crash at Abor Junction on the Mankessim–Accra Highway.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, August 6, 2026, after a Toyota Voxy with registration number AS 8911-25 crashed at the location.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), a distress call was received at the Mankessim Fire Station at about 1:44 am, prompting a rescue team, in collaboration with the National Ambulance Service, to respond to the scene.
The team arrived at about 2:01 am and found nine victims at the crash site. Two females and five males had sustained injuries, while a male and a female were confirmed dead.
The injured victims were given immediate assistance and transported for medical attention.
Three of the injured persons were taken to Mercy Women Catholic Hospital in Mankessim, while the bodies of the two deceased victims were conveyed to the Saltpond Government Hospital.
The cause of the accident is yet to be established, although the driver of the vehicle reportedly escaped unhurt.
The rescue team also cleared debris from the scene to prevent further accidents.
