Two Killed, Seven Injured After Toyota Voxy Crash on Mankessim–Accra Highway

Two people have died and seven others sustained injuries after a Toyota Voxy bus crashed at Abor Junction on the Mankessim–Accra Highway in the early hours of Thursday, August 6, 2026.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the accident occurred at about 1:44 a.m., following which a distress call was received at the Mankessim Fire Station.

Firefighters, together with personnel from the National Ambulance Service, were deployed to the scene to assist victims and manage the situation.

Upon arrival, rescuers found nine people involved in the crash. Seven victims — comprising five men and two women — had sustained various degrees of injuries, while a man and a woman were confirmed dead at the scene.

The injured victims were transported to health facilities for treatment, with three of them admitted at Mercy Women Catholic Hospital in Mankessim. The bodies of the deceased were conveyed to the Saltpond Government Hospital Mortuary.

The driver of the vehicle, which was registered AS 8911-25, survived the crash without injuries.

The cause of the accident remains unknown, as investigations are expected to determine what led to the incident.

Meanwhile, firefighters cleared debris from the roadway to prevent further accidents and restore safe passage for motorists using the busy highway.
