A 23-year-old student of the University of Jos, identified as David Nanpon Timmap, has been taken into police custody for allegedly murdering his colleague, 22-year-old Peter Mata Mafurai, and secretly burying him in a shallow grave inside his room.
According to reports, the 300-level student attacked Mafurai during a heated argument, resulting in his death.
The shocking incident was uncovered after officers from the Plateau State Police Command’s Laranto Division received a distress call on Saturday morning.
Police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer, swiftly responded and arrested the suspect at the scene. Upon inspection, officers discovered that Timmap had buried the victim in a shallow grave within his residence.
The deceased’s body was later exhumed and moved to the Bingham University Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Authorities say the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue to determine the motive behind the gruesome crime. The Plateau State Police Command has assured the public that justice will be pursued diligently.
