Late dancehall diva, Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng best known by her stage name, Ebony Reigns, was remembered by an all girl group with touching tribute last night at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
Ebony Reigns who made history as the first female to win the Artiste of the year at the VGMA was honoured as her female colleagues came together to sing her hit songs in her memory at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The performance which will be talked about long after the end of the show, is that chilling all-star tribute to the chanteuse by fellow singers Akosua Agyepong, Efya, MzVee, and Adina, who rendered touching renditions of some of Ebony’s biggest hits: Sponsor, Hustle, and Maame Hwe.
Dressed in white, the ladies invoked sobering emotion in the auditorium.
Compered by Berla Mundi and Jon Dumelo, VGMA 2018 is a Charterhouse Ghana production. It is sponsored by telecoms giant Vodafone.
Other legends including C.K Mann, Paapa Yankson and Kofi Bucknor were all remembered on the night.
The event held at the Accra International Conference Center saw several celebrities and fans alike thronging the premises.
Performances from billed artistes including Sarkodie, Joe Mettle, Stonebwoy, Samini, shook the house and got patrons excited.
The late Ebony Reigns was posthumously crowned Artiste of the Year while others including fast rising acts, Kuami Eugene, KiDi and Joe Mettle; 2017 Artiste of the year, swept individual awards.
