Ghana's Abdulai Mukarama scored a brace to send her team Tyler Junior College Apache (TJC) Ladies soccer team  into the finals of the NJCAA championship.

It is the fourth straight year that TJC have themselves in the finals of the national Championship.

They defeated Eastern Florida State (Lady Titans) by 2-1 in the semifinals played last night.

In Friday’s win over Eastern Florida, TJC took a 1-0 lead when Abdulai Mukarama scored in the 36 minute of the first half after a cross from Isabel Kopp.

The Lady Titans, who suffered their first loss of the season for after a 16 game unbeaten record, pulled parity  when Aida Illas scored after an assist from Alexis Peri in the 63.

Star striker Mukarama Abdulai, grabbed the winner in the 78th minute after an assist from Patricia Estupinan, as the No. 3 Apache Ladies defeated host and No. 2 Eastern Florida State on Friday in the NJCAA Division I Women’s National Tournament semifinals at Orlando Health Stadium in Melbourne, Florida.

It is the third straight year TJC (21-1) has defeated the Lady Titans at the national tournament.

Now, the Apache Ladies would like to win their fourth national championship when they meet No. 1 Monroe (New York) (14-0) on Saturday in Florida.

Monroe defeated No. 4 Lewis & Clark (Illinois) 5-3 in the other semifinal.

It is a rematch of last year’s national championship game in Foley, Alabama where the Lady Mustangs defeated TJC 3-1.

TJC, under coach Corey Rose, has won three national titles — 2009, 2011 and 2017. Monroe has won two crowns — 2014 and 2018.

In the second semifinal, Sydoney Clarke scored four of Monroe’s five goals. The Lady Mustangs led 2-0 before Lewis & Clark scored consecutive goals within 30 seconds in the second half for a 2-2 tie.

Monroe then went up 4-2 when Lewis & Clark scored for 4-3 in the 81st minute before Clarke scored her fourth goal in the 87 minute to clinch the win.
