It was an entertaining goal-fest at the Baba Yara Stadium as Asante Kotoko edged Bibiani Goldstars 3-2 in a highly competitive matchday 33 clash of the Ghana Premier League.
The visitors started brightly, moving the ball with confidence and frequently utilizing the flanks. Their early dominance paid off in the 5th minute when Kingsley Braye struck to give Goldstars the lead.
Kotoko responded by stepping up their intensity and pushing men forward. Their efforts were rewarded in the 20th minute when Albert Amoah was fouled in the box. The forward converted the resulting penalty to draw the Porcupine Warriors level.
Amoah wasn't done yet, as he rose highest to meet a cross with a powerful header just before half-time, completing his brace and giving Kotoko the lead for the first time in the match.
The second half resumed with both sides playing at a high tempo, thrilling the fans with end-to-end action. Bibiani Goldstars, determined not to leave empty-handed, found an equalizer through Manuel Mantey after sustained pressure.
But Albert Amoah had the final say. In a moment of brilliance, he completed his hat-trick, restoring Kotoko’s advantage and sealing all three points for the home side.
Despite the victory, Asante Kotoko remain third on the table with 58 points—two behind league leaders—and must win their final match while hoping both Bibiani Goldstars and Nations FC drop points to stand a chance of clinching the title.
For Medeama SC, the defeat confirms their absence from the upcoming GHALCA Top Four tournament, as they now sit seven points adrift of the top four.
