Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo came off the bench to score Bournemouth’s only goal in their pre-season game against Arsenal on Thursday morning in the USA.

Arsenal began their three-match tour of the United States by defeating Bournemouth 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in Los Angeles.

Fabio Vieira opened the scoring for Arsenal in the first half, converting Reiss Nelson's deep cross with a volley into the far bottom corner.

The match was competitive, with three players receiving bookings. Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke and Daniel Jebbison were both denied by Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein.

However, Hein was unable to stop Semenyo’s effort, which deflected off Omar Rekik and found the far corner of the net.

Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto made a crucial save against Leandro Trossard late in the game after a well-executed build-up by Martin Odegaard.

The match was ultimately decided by a pre-planned penalty shootout, with Ryan Christie's miss proving decisive.

All of Arsenal’s experienced players participated in the game, except for Emile Smith Rowe, who has been linked with a move to Fulham.

"There are things happening in the background and we decided the best thing to do was to keep him away from the game," said Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta after the match.

This game concludes Bournemouth's trip to California following their draw with Wrexham. Arsenal will next face Manchester United at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Antoine Semenyo was Bournemouth’s second top scorer in the Premier League last season, following Dominic Solanke.
