A horrific armed attack unfolded at a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) branch in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, where gunmen stormed the premises during a live-streamed service, killing three worshippers and abducting several others, including the pastor.
The chilling video of the incident shows worshippers scattering in terror as bursts of gunfire echoed through the church auditorium. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers invaded without warning and opened fire immediately.
“They just burst in and started shooting. Three people died instantly. They rounded up others at gunpoint and took them into the bush. We still don’t know how many were kidnapped,” a witness recounted.
The armed men reportedly escaped through bush paths connecting Eruku to nearby communities, complicating early pursuit efforts by security agents and vigilante groups.
The church raid occurred shortly after a broader assault on Eruku town, where gunmen fired sporadically, causing residents and travellers to flee for safety.
The coordinated attacks have intensified concerns over rising insecurity along the Kwara–Kogi axis. Authorities have yet to confirm the number of abductees, while security forces continue combing nearby forests as distressed families await updates.
