The last few years has been very difficult for former Ghana Football Association President Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi but with every misfortune there is always a silver lining.

Mr Nyantakyi turned 51 years old on Tuesday 27th October, 2020 and a surprise birthday was organized at his home in Accra with friends and close associates in attendance.

He was surprised as his wife opened the doors to his home only to be serenaded by friends bellowing happy birthday songs to him.

Nyantakyi was the Ghana Football Association President from 2005 until 2018 when he was ousted in ignominy after he was filmed in June 2018 for allegedly accepting a "cash gift" from investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Football's world governing body launched an investigation after Nyantakyi was pictured taking $65,000 (£48,000) from an undercover reporter.

Fifa fined Nyantakyi 500,000 Swiss francs (£390,000).

Nyantakyi was also vice-president of the Confederation of African Football and a member of the Fifa Council.

He stepped down as GFA president in June after film of him allegedly accepting a "cash gift" was made public.
Recently it came to light that the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has reduced the lifetime ban on former Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, to 15 years.
