A Ghanaian Health Science student at Howard University in the United States, Georgette Yinsaya, is making a heartfelt appeal for financial assistance to help her clear an outstanding tuition balance of over $29,000, which stands between her and graduation this December.

Georgette, who currently holds an impressive 3.97 GPA, has been placed on a registration hold due to the unpaid tuition, making it impossible for her to register for final courses needed to complete her degree.

Despite juggling part-time work and launching personal fundraising efforts, her status as an international student restricts her ability to work more than 20 hours per week, severely limiting her income.

She has also sought support from her father, her primary sponsor, but financial constraints in Ghana’s cedi-based economy have made it difficult for him to meet the demands of her U.S. tuition fees.

A Dream to Serve Ghana’s Underserved

Georgette’s ambition is not just to graduate, but to further her education as a Physician Assistant and eventually return home to serve medically underserved communities in Ghana.

She has been actively involved in healthcare outreach, mentorship, and advocacy initiatives on campus — making her a standout contributor both academically and socially.

With the first portion of her debt ($13,671) due by July 31, she now risks not only her degree but also her visa status — a situation that could derail years of sacrifice and hard work.

Her Appeal

Taking to LinkedIn, Georgette shared an emotional message titled “Help Me Cross the Finish Line,” where she detailed her academic journey, her struggles, and her hopes.
“Despite applying for scholarships, aid, and work opportunities, I’ve exhausted every avenue,” she wrote.
“Every dollar brings me one step closer to walking across that stage and giving back to the communities that have shaped me.”

She’s asking the public, corporate Ghana, philanthropic organizations, and individuals around the world to support her dream through donations or by sharing her story.
