Four passengers narrowly escaped a potential disaster on Wednesday morning after a helicopter made an emergency landing at Ajumako Kokoben in the Central Region.
The aircraft, with registration number 9G-ADW, was flying from Accra to Prestea in the Western Region when the pilot was forced to divert and land at the Ajumako Kokoben Community School park around 10:30 a.m.
According to eyewitnesses, the pilot explained that bad weather conditions made it unsafe to continue the journey. The helicopter remained grounded for over three hours before resuming its flight once conditions improved.
This emergency landing occurred barely an hour before the tragic military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, which claimed eight lives, including two government ministers.
Residents of Ajumako Kokoben expressed mixed feelings — initially excited to see a helicopter land in their community but later saddened by news of the fatal crash elsewhere in the country.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the emergency landing.
