Former President Jerry John Rawlings has launched another scathing attack on Vice Chair of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita Desoso, describing her as a "crook" and a "hypocrite".

According to the former military ruler, the act by Madam Desoso who knelt before him to apologise and beg for forgiveness on behalf of the NDC for its ‘sins’ during the 39th anniversary of the June 4 Uprising is fond of using cunning means to get her way.

Speaking at a durbar to commemorate the 39th anniversary of the June 4 revolution in Accra, an apologetic Madam De Sosoo said;  “Now to my father – Founder, I know your children we have erred and I also know that you are a human being and you have also done something may be it is not right.

And I was so happy when I heard you say that when you brought a statement out, rendering an apology – you are a hero. You are a hero. This shows that what you have thought me is still within me. If you are a leader, be prepared to say that I am sorry. If you are a child, be prepared to say that daddy I’m sorry. So, I will take this opportunity on behalf of the party to kneel down before my dad – please forgive us. Let us come together to build this country”, an emotional De Sosoo pleaded with the former Ghanaian Head of State.

Her action received condemnation from many political players who felt the apology was needless especially after Former President Rawlings embarrassed her and accused her of bleaching immediately after the apology.

At a recent event, Mr. Rawlings who didn't seem to have had enough of the insults and embarrassment he sent out to Madam Desoso said; “She’s a crook. She’s lucky I don’t talk about her that much,”

He added; “What she did was pre-planned. Yes the woman on the stage, June 4, when she went on her knees”.

The founder of the NDC further recalled when Ms Desoso using a similar groveling tactic on his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, to gain favour to win the Women Organiser slot of the party in the past.

"Maybe sometimes I say the inappropriate things, I should have said it there and then [that she's a crook]", Mr Rawlings added.
