Music star Kuami Eugene has recounted how members of his family have been the unfortunate victims of his new found fame.

Contrary to the belief that his family will be loved because of his singing ability, he disclosed that they are rather constantly being chastised by a section of the public.

The ‘Wish Me Well’ hit singer narrated the ordeal of some members of his family who hate the limelight, in an interview with Naa Ashorkor on Showbiz A-Z on Joy FM, Saturday.

“My sister had to quit two jobs because they get to know it’s Kuami Eugene’s sister...they start relating to her in a different way. Talking to her in a different way and they take everything she says serious because they feel she is getting arrogant,” the talented singer said.

Kuami Eugene further narrated, “she had to quit that job to start another one…when she got a post at DVLA and it was her birthday I went to visit her and everybody came around,” and they realised that they were truly related.

“The next day, she called me and she was like she had to pick a fight with some few girls because they were having an argument and someone [used] a very bad word. That’s what they are facing and that’s one reason why they don’t want to get involved with this whole thing…,” he added.

According to him, his family always try to hide the fact that they are related to him because “if I get close to them… it affects” their private life.

“Someone passed comment at my big brother that,” he is not Kuami Eugene so he should relax and “it’s like I allowed someone to say that to him.”

The singer revealed that the last time he saw his mother was three months ago and when he went to visit her.

“My mum didn’t like it because 24/7 from morning up to evening people were just entering the house and she didn’t like that as she is a private person.”

Kuami Eugene said he even “barely post birthday pictures of friends on my page because people look for them and go and insult them in their DMs (Direct Messages).”
