Ghanaian midfielder Kudus Mohammed is gaining fitness for his Dutch side Ajax ahead of Ghana's crunch 2022 World Cup qualifier play off against Nigeria later this month.

Kudus played for the Ajax in their rampant 5-0 win over FC Twente at the Johan Cryuff Arena.

The 21 year old Ghanaian midfielder has not featured for his Dutch side since picking up an injury whiles playing for Ghana in the 2022 World Cup qualifier against South Africa in Cape Coast in November 2021.

He was handed a four minute cameo as he came on as replacement for Stephen Berghuis to make his first appearance this year for Ajax.

The Ghanaian midfielder was impressive on Monday night when he played for Ajax in a friendly match against Heracles Almelo which was played behind closed doors.

Kudus scored twice in their 5-1 win over Heracles before he set up another one in a dominant display for his side which is good news for the Black Stars as they gear up for the World Cup play off with Nigeria.

He pressed home his readiness with his performance on Monday to Ajax head coach Erik Ten Hag with the dominant display.

Kudus has played just a total of 12 minutes with eight coming over the weekend in the club's shock 2-1 defeat at Go Ahead Eagles as Ajax gently ease him into games as he tries to gain his match fitness after a long lay off.

The Ghanaian with his performance on Monday is pushing for a starting berth in his side's next game against AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Cup semi final.

Kudus Mohammed is expected to play a prominent role in Ghana's quest for a fourth World Cup berth as they face Nigeria later this month in a two legged play off.
