VIDEO: Kudus Mohammed unveiled by Spurs with Stonebwoy's track in landmark £55m move

Mohammed Kudus has completed a landmark switch to Tottenham Hotspur from West Ham United in a £55 million deal, making history as Ghana’s most expensive footballer to date.
The North London club revealed their newest signing with flair—debuting a 38-second announcement video steeped in Ghanaian culture. Kudus, clad in Spurs' latest away kit, appears holding a microphone and boldly declares, “I only wanted Spurs.”
The clip pulses to a customized remix of Stonebwoy’s Overlord, tweaked to celebrate both Kudus and the club.
The inclusion wasn’t just for show—it highlighted Kudus’ deep-rooted connection to the award-winning Ghanaian musician, a friendship that took shape during his time at Ajax and grew closer during his West Ham stint.
The deal, finalized on July 10, 2025, brought to an end months of pursuit from Tottenham, who initially had a £50 million bid turned down before returning with the successful offer. Kudus reportedly turned down interest from Chelsea, Newcastle, and Manchester United to make the move.
This blockbuster transfer also breaks a 14-year silence between Spurs and West Ham in the transfer market—the last player to switch directly between the two clubs did so back in 2011.
The 24-year-old midfielder, who will wear the No. 20 shirt, joins under new Spurs boss Thomas Frank, who views Kudus as central to the club’s ambitions in the Champions League following their Europa League success last season.
Kudus leaves West Ham after two seasons, during which he featured in 80 matches, scored 19 goals, and recorded 13 assists. His first year in England was particularly memorable, bagging 14 goals and earning the Premier League Newcomer of the Year award.
While his second season was quieter—partly due to tactical changes—his ability to influence matches and his versatility remained evident.
Prior to his time in England, Kudus built his reputation at Ajax with 27 goals across 87 appearances and back-to-back Dutch league titles. He began his career at Ghana’s renowned Right to Dream Academy before moving to Denmark’s FC Nordsjaelland, and then to Ajax in 2020.
Now at Spurs, Kudus embarks on a new chapter in his flourishing career, carrying with him both the hopes of a club eager to rise—and a nation proud of its brightest footballing export.
