The Ghana Police Service has apprehended a man identified as Osei Kwame, popularly known by the nickname “Nsafufoo,” for unlawfully possessing and wearing a police uniform without authorization.

The arrest took place in Antoakrom, a community in the Manso Nkwanta District of the Ashanti Region, after a video of the suspect went viral on social media.

In the video, Kwame appeared visibly drunk and was seen interacting with two young men who accused him of trying to set them up for arrest.

Kwame, dressed in a full police uniform, could be heard repeatedly insisting that he had no intention of arresting anyone and was merely looking for something to smoke.

The video, which sparked widespread reactions online, showed the young men confronting and roughing him up, further raising alarm over how he came into possession of the uniform.

The police quickly launched an investigation following the circulation of the footage, leading to Kwame’s arrest.

In a statement, authorities confirmed that he is currently in their custody and assisting with investigations to determine how he obtained the police attire and whether he has impersonated law enforcement officers in the past.

The incident has stirred public concern about the ease with which civilians can access official uniforms, as well as the potential for such impersonation to erode trust in security personnel.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of the service and urged the public to report similar incidents. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
