A tragic accident on the Accra-Kumasi highway has claimed one life and left several others injured after a VIP bus collided with a Toyota Venza on Saturday, June 29, 2025.
The incident, which occurred along one of Ghana’s busiest road corridors, has reignited public concern over road safety, particularly involving VIP-branded long-distance buses.
Eyewitnesses reported a harrowing scene as emergency services arrived to assist the injured and transport them to nearby hospitals.
This latest accident comes just days after another deadly crash involving a VIP bus and a cargo truck near Oframase on June 25.
That earlier collision, reportedly caused by a head-on impact, left multiple passengers dead, some of whom were burned beyond recognition.
The truck in that crash was said to be transporting flour, and the mangled wreckage took hours to clear from the road, adding to traffic congestion and distress for passersby.
These back-to-back accidents have sparked renewed calls for stricter regulation and monitoring of commercial bus operators, particularly those serving long-distance routes.
Road safety advocates are also urging government authorities to accelerate improvements to the highway infrastructure, which many argue is overdue for major upgrades.
As investigations into both crashes continue, families of the victims are left grappling with grief, while passengers across the country grow increasingly wary of long-distance travel by road.
