Peace FM presenters Nana Yaw Kesseh and Odi Ahenkan led a public demonstration over the weekend on the Pokuase-Nsawam highway, highlighting the appalling state of the road and demanding urgent government intervention.

The protest drew attention to the daily struggles of motorists and commuters who use the Ofankor-Nsawam road — a stretch plagued by incomplete construction, poor infrastructure, massive potholes, and thick clouds of dust.

Initiated on July 20, 2022, the $346.47 million road project was expected to be completed by July 20, 2024.

However, three years on, significant portions remain in disrepair, with construction at various unfinished stages.

Drivers and passengers alike endure long hours in traffic, navigating crater-like potholes from Amasaman through Sapeiman, Medie, to the Nsawam junction.

The hazardous conditions have turned routine commutes into distressing journeys.

For pedestrians, the experience is equally grim. Many are forced to wear masks or cover their faces with handkerchiefs to avoid inhaling the dust that blankets the area.

Despite repeated complaints and public outcry, progress on the project remains slow — prompting the weekend protest, which organizers say is just the beginning of continued advocacy until the government takes decisive action to fix the road.
