Veteran sports journalist Kofi Asare Brako, affectionately known as Abatay, has broken his long silence, revealing he battled a debilitating stroke for more than three years — the reason for his absence from the media landscape.

Speaking in a heartfelt interview on Accra-based Peace FM, the seasoned broadcaster credited his recovery to his unwavering faith in God.

According to him, the health ordeal deepened his relationship with God and taught him the power of divine healing.

“This sickness helped me to know God more,” he shared emotionally. “It was God who healed me. In those difficult moments, I trusted Him, and He came through for me.”

Abatay urged Ghanaians to develop a personal relationship with God, stressing that no situation is beyond redemption. “No matter what you go through, never give up. Put your trust in God,” he advised. “He’s the reason I’m alive today.”

In an emotional expression of gratitude, Kofi Asare Brako encouraged listeners to give their lives to Christ, emphasizing that faith was his anchor through the darkest of days.

During the NPP administration, Asare Brako served at the Ministry of Youth and Sports as the personal assistant and spokesperson for the then Sports Minister.

He holds a Diploma in Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism and a BSc in Marketing from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

With over two decades of experience, Abatay made a name for himself across several major media outlets, including Peace FM, Adom FM, Asempa FM, and Atinka FM.
