Ghanaian attacker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored his first-ever brace for his Swiss side on Saturday evening as he emerged as the hero for FC Zurich, with two impeccable goals against formidable opponents, Lugano.

The head-to-head record between the teams before the game stood at FC Zurich 12 wins, Lugano 12 wins, and eight draws, setting the stage for an intense battle at the Stadion Letzigrund.

Barnieh was instrumental from the start, featuring in the lineup and impressively lasting 85 minutes on the field.

Despite Lugano enjoying a significant amount of possession during the encounter, FC Zurich showcased their offensive prowess with numerous shots on goal.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh proved to be the difference-maker, opening the scoring for Zurich in the 68th minute with a powerful right-footed shot from the center of the box, finding the bottom left corner.

Not content with just one goal, Barnieh struck again in the 76th minute, doubling his team's lead with a well-executed left-footed shot from the right side of the box, this time finding the bottom right corner.

Adding to the excitement, Jonathan Okita scored in the 80th minute, extending Zurich's lead to 3-0. Okita's goal was assisted by Antonio Marchesano, who provided a well-timed through ball.

With a resounding 3-0 victory in favor of the home side, FC Zurich now finds themselves at the top of the league table.
