In a dramatic turn of events, Ghana was held to a 2-2 draw by Mozambique in the final Group B match of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations.

The match, which took place on Monday, saw Ghana squander a two-goal lead, leading to a disappointing outcome for the Black Stars.

Jordan Ayew was the star for Ghana, converting two penalties, one in each half of the game.

The first penalty came in the 15th minute after Joseph Painstil was fouled in the box. Ayew confidently converted, giving Ghana a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

In the second half, Ayew once again found the back of the net from the penalty spot in the 70th minute, extending Ghana's lead to 2-0.

However, Mozambique mounted a comeback, scoring in the 90th minute with a penalty from Geny Catamo after a handball by Ghana's skipper Andre Ayew.

As the clock ticked into added time, Mozambique completed the comeback with a goal from Reinildo Mandava. Mandava headed home a corner-kick to level the score at 2-2, securing a crucial point for Mozambique.

The draw leaves Ghana in a precarious position in Group B, finishing third behind Cape Verde and Egypt.

To progress to the round of 16, Ghana now needs favorable results in other group matches to secure one of the four best third-placed spots.

The turn of events adds tension and uncertainty to Ghana's AFCON campaign.
