Accra Hearts of Oak suffered a significant setback as they were defeated 1-0 by Bofoakwa Tano in their betPawa Premier League Matchday three clash at the Coronation Park on Saturday.

Bofoakwa Tano, returning to the top-flight after a 16-year absence, were determined to secure their first Premier League victory over Hearts of Oak after 18 previous unsuccessful attempts.

The Sunyani-based team had not managed to defeat the Phobians since the Premier League era began in 1993/94, enduring 13 losses and 5 draws in 18 previous meetings.

However, The Green and Whites finally broke the streak on Saturday, thanks to the brilliance of their captain, Sakaa Dauda.

The first half of the game ended without any goals as both teams struggled to find the breakthrough.

In the second half, Bofoakwa's captain, Saaka Dauda, made the difference in the 46th minute.

He skillfully navigated past the Hearts of Oak defense and fired home the only goal of the match.

The speedy attacker placed the ball into the bottom corner, eluding Hearts of Oak's goalkeeper Richard Attah for the crucial opening goal.

This victory extends Bofoakwa Tano's impressive home record to two wins in two games, and they remain unbeaten in three matches after a goalless draw against Accra Great Olympics on Matchday One.

The Premier League returnees also secured a 2-1 victory over Real Tamale United in their second League game before their remarkable win over Accra Hearts of Oak (1-0) on this occasion.

Bofoakwa Tano currently leads the League table with 7 points from three matches.
