Kumasi Asante Kotoko surrendered top spot to bitter rivals Accra Hearts of Oak after their lackluster 1-1 drawn game against WAFA.

The academy side proved a tough nut to crack for the league title hopefuls as their title ambitions suffered a big jolt.

Kotoko scored very early in the game just in the second minute after Francis Andy Kumi was hauled down in the penalty box after a through pass from Emmanuel Gyamfi.

Ishmael Abdul Ganiyu stepped up and fired the penalty against the crossbar before cannoning off the goalie into the back of the net.

On the stroke of half time the academy boys remined every one what they can do as military man Justus Torsutey headed home the equalizer to make it 1-1.

Kotoko never recovered as were not able to force the issue even in the second half as both sides settled for a points each.
