In a thrilling conclusion to Chelsea's pre-season campaign, Lesley Ugochukwu scored a dramatic last-minute equalizer to secure a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan in a match that served as a final test under new manager Enzo Maresca before the Premier League season kicks off.

Playing in challenging conditions, Inter Milan took the lead in the 26th minute when Marcus Thuram latched onto a pass from Joaquin Correa, firing a powerful shot into the top corner.

Despite the setback, Chelsea mounted a strong response, with Marc Cucurella and Cole Palmer particularly standing out.

Cucurella, fresh off Spain's Euro 2024 victory, and Palmer, instrumental in England's runner-up finish, displayed their international pedigree.

Nicolas Jackson, making his first appearance of the pre-season, also contributed to Chelsea's efforts to find an equalizer.

The breakthrough came in the 90th minute when Palmer's set-piece was partially cleared, only for Ugochukwu to pounce on the loose ball.

The young French midfielder struck a perfectly timed half-volley that sailed past Inter’s goalkeeper Yann Sommer, leveling the score in the dying moments of the game.

Enzo Fernandez captained the team, with standout performances from Wesley Fofana, Robert Sanchez, and Mykhailo Mudryk.

With captain Reece James sidelined due to injury, Maresca will be eager to maintain the momentum as Chelsea prepare to face reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in their season opener next weekend.
