The General Manager of VIP Jeoun Transport Service, Ernest Frimpong Manso, has announced the implementation of strict safety measures for drivers ahead of the Christmas holidays.
Speaking to Citi News on Friday, December 19, he said drivers have been cautioned to reduce speed, treat passengers with respect, and prioritise safety to ensure travellers reach their destinations without incident and can fully enjoy the festive season. He added that officers from the Central Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) in Accra have also engaged the drivers to reinforce road safety practices.
Mr. Frimpong Manso expressed optimism about an expected increase in passenger numbers in the coming days, noting that the company is taking deliberate steps to minimise road crashes during the Christmas period.
“We spoke to all the drivers to be very mindful, to reduce their speed, to be respectful to passengers and ensure that passenger gets to their destination safely and then participate in the festive period,” he said.
He further noted that visits by the Central MTTD in Accra have strengthened the company’s safety campaign. “So that is the bit that we’ve done. We’ve had visits from the central MTTD here in Accra, and they have also spoken with our drivers. We believe that we would have an increased number of passengers in the coming days, and at the same time, ensure we record fewer accidents in the coming days,”he added.
