The Volta Region is rapidly positioning itself as one of Ghana’s most dynamic economic zones, thanks to its strategic location, fertile lands, and rich natural resources, according to the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC).

In remarks delivered on his behalf at the opening of the 2025 Volta Trade and Investment Fair (VTIF), GIPC CEO Simon Madjie described the region as a rising frontier for investment. This year’s Fair, themed “Volta Rising: Building Global Partnerships for a Thriving 24-Hour Economy,” has brought together businesses, investors, policymakers, innovators, and visitors to explore opportunities across key sectors. The event, jointly organised by the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), features exhibitions, networking activities, and cultural showcases highlighting the region’s development potential.

Madjie said the Volta Region offers strong prospects in agribusiness, manufacturing, tourism, renewable energy, and cross-border trade, and is central to national initiatives such as the Green City Project, the 24-hour economy agenda, and the Volta Economic Corridor. He noted that GIPC’s recent investment roadshow in the region revealed several high-potential ventures and reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to working closely with regional partners to attract sustainable investments.

“We must continue collaborating to draw the right investments that expand industries and strengthen the region’s role in Ghana’s economic transformation,” he said, commending the Fair’s organisers for their innovation and dedication.

Speaking at the event, Michael Abbey, CEO of the Venture Capital Trust Fund, praised the VTIF as a landmark edition that aligns with government’s goal of building a resilient and inclusive 24-hour economy. He assured participants of the Fund’s support for Ghanaian enterprises, calling for a united effort to boost domestic and global competitiveness.

Professor Richard Jinks Bani, Board Chairman of GIRSAL, explained that the institution was established to reduce risks in agricultural lending and encourage financial institutions to expand credit to the agricultural sector. He urged agribusinesses to take advantage of GIRSAL’s support.

VTIF ambassador Ivy Prosper emphasised the region’s natural beauty, vibrant culture, and largely untapped potential, encouraging both residents and visitors to explore and invest in Volta. She highlighted its waterfalls, hiking trails, rich cuisine, and warm hospitality, calling the region “an untapped resource” with enormous promise.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Volta Regional Minister, the CEO of VTIF, and heads of regional institutions, marking a strong start to a Fair designed to position the Volta Region as a key driver of national economic growth.
