A police officer is nursing life-threatening gunshot wounds after he was attacked by some four unidentified gang Saturday afternoon.
Daily Mail GH reported that G/Sgt Thomas Akoka stationed at the Juaboso District Command in the Western North Region, was on escort duty at Kotosaa, a community near Juaboso when he was attacked by the gun-wielding men at about 13:00 hrs GMT.
A reinforcement team dispatched to the scene rushed the victim to the emergency unit of the St. John of God Hospital at Sefwi Asafo for treatment.
“He sustained eight gunshot wounds on his body and was rushed to the hospital. For now he is in stable condition and the doctors are on him”, a police source told dailymailgh.com.
There is a serious manhunt for the gang as top police chiefs meet to review its security strategies.
“The IGP and the Police Director General of Welfare have since reached out to the victim as a full scale investigations have begun into circumstances leading to the attack”, the source indicated.
