The Headmaster of Oti Boateng Senior High School in the Eastern Region, Mr John Hawkson Arthur, has allayed fears of parents and the general public about the safety the students following a suspected case of food poisoning.

Several students complained of stomach upset after eating Waakye from a vendor at the school's bush canteen.

The affected students were rushed to the Regional Hospital for treatment.

Speaking about the development on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class91.3FM on Wednesday, 16 May 2018, Mr Arthur stressed that the food was not prepared by the school’s kitchen.

The school authorities, he said, were yet to get an official report from the hospital to confirm, if, indeed, the affected students had suffered food poisoning.

He, however, said normal activities have resumed on campus as the situation is not serious.

“There’s no cause for alarm, there’s no problem, we don’t need any parents [coming over] because I’m a father and I’ve done what is expected of me, everybody is fine,” he told show host Moro Awudu.

The Waakye seller has, however, been asked to stop selling until investigations have been conducted into the matter.
