Players from Nigeria’s Super Falcons visited South African forward Gabriela “Gaby” Salgado at the Mohamed VI University Hospital in Casablanca on Wednesday, following her serious injury during the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final.

Salgado, who suffered a fractured mid-shaft in her left leg after being stretchered off in the 88th minute of Tuesday’s intense clash, underwent successful surgery and is ruled out for the remainder of the year

Led by captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, members of the Falcons visited Salgado at her bedside, offering words of encouragement and presenting a signed Nigeria jersey as a gesture of goodwill.

“We are holding Gabriela, her teammates, her family and close friends in our hearts,” read a statement from the Nigerian camp. “In moments like these, the spirit of competition fades, replaced by compassion for a fellow athlete. We stand firmly alongside Banyana Banyana in solidarity”

Nigeria secured a dramatic 2–1 victory in the match thanks to a late goal from Gloria Alozie, booking their place in Saturday, July 26th's final against hosts, Morocco.
