Ghana’s U-17 national team, the Black Starlets, are set for a high-stakes showdown against Nigeria in the semifinals of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship, with a place in the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco on the line.

The match kicks off at 19:00 GMT on Tuesday, September 30, at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, and promises to be a fierce West African derby.

Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, speaking ahead of the clash, expressed confidence in his squad’s mindset and preparation:

“We feel good. Everyone is okay, and the common spirit of the team is very high. The boys are confident and very ready to get the results to book a place for the AFCON in Morocco.”

Ogum also addressed tactical adjustments:

“We’ve identified the errors from our previous games through video sessions and worked on them. We expect an improvement in our defensive shape.”

The Starlets earned their semifinal berth with a 3–1 win over Niger in their final Group A match, showcasing attacking flair and resilience. Nigeria, unbeaten in Group B, will pose a stern test, but Ghana’s tactical tweaks and renewed confidence could prove decisive.
