The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, together with the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), has been formally notified by the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) of planned mandatory maintenance works on its gas facilities in Ghana.

The maintenance exercise is scheduled for Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During this period, there will be a temporary interruption in gas supply to thermal power plants located in Tema.

In a statement issued on Saturday, January 16, WAPCo explained that the maintenance work is necessary to ensure the continued safety, reliability, and integrity of the gas supply infrastructure.

The statement assured that adequate alternative fuel arrangements have been put in place to guarantee uninterrupted power generation and maintain a stable electricity supply throughout the maintenance period.

It added that stakeholders across the energy value chain will remain fully engaged and closely monitor the exercise to ensure its smooth and successful completion.

WAPCo also apologized for any inconvenience the temporary disruption may cause and appealed to the public for understanding and cooperation.
