Chief Executive Officer of Bibiani Goldstars, Mr Akwasi Adu, has asserted that head coach Stephen Frimpong Manso will remain in charge and oversee the affairs of the club as head coach following the Western North club’s historic Ghana Premier League title triumph.
Gold Stars clinched their first ever championship title in great fashion as they thumped relegation-hit Accra Lions in a 4-0 win on the final day of the campaign to secure what was a notable achievement in the history of the club. Across 34 games in the season, they amassed 63 points, scored 38 goals and conceding just 21 times. They needed only needed four years to reach this feat as they debuted into the top flight in the 2021-2022 season.
Amid rumors and speculation about potential changes to the technical team ahead of the club’s debut campaign in the CAF Interclub Champions League, Akwasi Adu denied the alleged statements and called for the rumours to be put at bay in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports by making it clear and vivid that Stephen Frimpong Manso and his technical team will remain in charge of their team throughout their quest to making a statement at the continental championship.
“Every team wants a coach who delivers results, and Frimpong Manso has done just that. Looking at the history of Bibiani Gold Stars, we only entered the top flight four years ago, his performance this season is unmatched. His results speak louder than those of his predecessors, and his job continuity is assured.”
Adu stressed again the club’s commitment to stability, pointing out the way Gold Stars as a Ghana Premier League club handle both technical and managerial affairs leaving little room for concern.
“Maybe he himself might want to take on a new challenge elsewhere but from the Bibiani Gold Stars side, we don’t believe in frequently changing our technical handlers. We’ve seen that when coaches stay longer, they tend to do better for their clubs.”
