Artistes billed to perform tonight at the 2018 AFRIMA Music Village, at the Independence Square, Accra, have expressed their readiness to thrill patrons when they hit the stage to perform.

The AFRIMA Music Village, is a festival-style music concert forms part of a string of activities marking the 5th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) which is underway in Ghana's capital, Accra.

In a chat with Showbiz yesterday, November 21 at a Welcome Soiree held in honour of AFRIMA nominees and delegates, AU officials, media, among others, at the Kempinski Hotel, Gold Coast City, Accra, some of the artistes said they were more than ready to distribute thrilling moments tonight.

According to PSquare's Peter Okoye now known as Mr P, “I love performing in Ghana and on a big stage such as AFRIMA, I would use the opportunity to get close to my fans who have enjoyed me over the years.

"I can't wait to hit the stage at the Independence Square with all these lovely Ghanaian artistes” he stated.

On her part, The Africa Lioness, Wiyaala told Showbiz she was happy to be a part of 2018 AFRIMA adding that she will go all out when she takes her turn at the concert.

“You know what Wiyaala does when she hits the stage. I am going to entertainment the audience and I also look forward to collaborations with the other artistes who are here for AFRIMA” she said.

Nigerian HipHop and Afrobeat artiste, Sound Sultan added that although this is not his first time in Ghana, the fact that he will be performing with other great artistes from all over the African continent excites him.

Speaking at the Welcome Soiree, Madam Catherine Afeku, Minister for Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture, said she was excited Ghana was hosting the biggest music celebration on the African continent.

"All the people of the African continent are here with one simple message that we are a group of people placed here by His Omnipotent to showcase the beauty of our continent through music, through arts, through culture.

"For the next few days, you will see the splendour of Africa through 2018 AFRIMA. We are very excited to receive our guests, our brothers and sisters from the continent."

She added that AFRIMA, the biggest music celebration on the African continent, will help change the media status quo of the African image of negativity.

"The activities lined up is for everybody in the country to rally behind Africa. Music, culture, is to unite us. Enough of the narrative of diseases and poverty, for once, we are coming together to use our creative talents to tell our story."

As part of 2018 AFRIMA, a series of activities  have been lined up to mark the celebration. They include a Africa Music Business Summit (AMBS) on Thursday, November 22, at Kempinski Hotel, Gold Coast City, Accra, a Nominees' Party on Friday, November 23, and finally the main awards night on Saturday  November 24 at the Accra International Conference Centre(AICC).
