We have not endorsed NDC - GFP's Roman Fada denies support for Mahama
5th December 2024
Philip Appiah Kubi, alias Roman Fada, the disqualified flagbearer for the Ghana Freedom Party, has rejected media reports that the party has declared support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Reports emerged on Tuesday, December 3, that the party had thrown its weight behind the NDC, urging Ghanaians to vote for John Dramani Mahama.
During a media briefing on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, Jerry Addo, the Deputy General Secretary of the GFP, announced the party's decision to support the NDC after extensive consultations with its executives.
“The Ghana Freedom Party is supporting the candidature of H.E. John Dramani Mahama on Saturday, December 7. He’s going to capture power to save Ghanaians. And I want to state here, it’s a fact, nobody has coerced us, nobody has influenced us into arriving at this decision,” Addo stated.
He continued to say that “We critically examined the manifestoes and policies of the various political parties and even the independent candidates. That is why we have arrived at this decision very late. Because we just have from today, Wednesday, up to Saturday. It was not easy; we did extensive consultations. And you see, our mother, the [late] flagbearer, had women at heart."
But in an interview with Citi FM, Roman Fada stated that the party has not endorsed any political party.
“We have not endorsed any political party. Not that we have issues with either NDC or NPP, but as the leader of the Ghana Freedom Party currently, with my general secretary, my four parliamentary candidates, and the other executive members, we have not endorsed any political party.
“And I will make it clear that it is fake. I know we have barely three days or two days to election day, and we will come up at the appropriate time,” he said.
