President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, has set out the qualities he expects in the next head coach of the Ghana national football team.
Speaking in an interview with 3Sports, Okraku emphasised the need for a coach with a strong track record, both at club and international level, as Ghana looks to move forward.
“He will be the person with a good record of having managed at the club level and hopefully at the national team level, someone who has won trophies,” he said.
Okraku stressed that experience and success are key to restoring confidence within the squad, noting that players respond positively to coaches with proven credentials.
“The players will look up to that person and say this guy has done it before and he knows what he is talking about,” he added.
The GFA president made it clear that the appointment is not just about tactical ability, but also about leadership and influence in the dressing room.
“We want to move forward… hopefully, this next one will be that one that will give everyone the confidence,” he said.
His comments come at a crucial time for Ghana football, with the Black Stars aiming to rebuild momentum and strengthen their identity ahead of future competitions, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The search for a new coach is expected to focus on candidates capable of inspiring belief while delivering results on the pitch.
