Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed strong belief in the Black Stars’ ability to make a deep run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite recent struggles.

‎Ghana will be making their fifth appearance at the tournament, set to be hosted across North America, and have been drawn in a challenging Group L alongside England national football team, Croatia national football team and Panama national football team.

‎The Black Stars head into the competition following a series of underwhelming results in recent friendlies, and currently without a substantive head coach after the departure of Otto Addo. However, Adams remains optimistic, insisting the squad still possesses enough quality to compete at the highest level.

‎“We may not have the best of players as we had in the past, but we still have what it takes to go very, very far,” he told Channel One TV.

‎The minister confirmed that efforts to appoint a new head coach are at an advanced stage, with experienced names such as Carlos Queiroz, Paulo Bento and Fernando Santos reportedly under consideration.

‎As part of preparations, Ghana will face Mexico national football team and Wales national football team in upcoming friendlies.

‎The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on 17 June, before facing England and Croatia later in the group stage, as they aim to improve on back-to-back group-stage exits in 2014 and 2022.
