The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has claimed that Former President Mahama will be the easiest candidate to beat in the 2020 elections.

According to him, the NPP will not allow Mahama to step down if he decides to rescind his decision to contest as the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, added that the NPP will force the main opposition party to present Mahama as their flagbearer for the general polls because he has proven to be the weakest candidates amongst his contenders.

“Mahama is now seen as the weakest candidate for NDC so why should we allow this precious opportunity to pass.

We won’t allow him to step down even if he tries to step down after the 2020 general elections. He is indeed the man we want and so I urge the NDC to always bring him on,” he said on Okay FM

Mahama, on Thursday, August 23, 2018, declared his intention to contest the elections to lead the NDC in the general elections of 2020.

Ahead of his declaration, he called on the founder of the NDC, Jerry John Rawlings at his office in Accra.

Mahama is expected to begin a nationwide tour this month and will also launch his campaign soon.

But Chairman Wontumi, who claims to be the one to decide for the NDC as far as elections are concerned, said John Mahama was created to be a follower and not a leader.

He went on to say that Mahama will be no match for the NPP even if he wins the flagbearership race of the NDC
