Vicky Kaushal, the rising star of Bollywood, became a household name after his brilliant debut in Masaan. Better still, you may also remember him playing Sanju’s goofy yet lovable best friend, Kamlesh Kanhaiyalal Kapasi aka Kamli in the movie Sanju. The same role which paved his way to the mainstream Bollywood movies.

While his acting chops have always been highly admired, it is his gradual physical transformation from a lean, college-boy physique in Masaan to a well-built army officer in his upcoming venture, Uri which is truly praiseworthy.
Kaushal underwent a 180-degree change by gaining 15 kilos for his role of a military man in Uri, a movie based on Indian Army’s surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The promising actor took to Instagram to show off his hard work. In the video, he is seen doing leg raises with absolute perfection. Having an ectomorph body type, Vicky admitted that gaining 15 kilos was not an easy task for him.

Who is an ectomorph? An ectomorph is a person with a naturally lean built, who needs a large number of calories to gain weight. Since ectomorphs have an incredibly fast metabolism, it is extremely difficult for them to gain weight. Here is what he wrote about his transformation and his vigorous workout regime for Uri: “Throwback to those late night training sessions for #UriTheSurgicalStrike ... gaining 15kgs of muscle weight wasn’t an easy task for this ectomorph... a big shout out to my dear ‘jallaad’ trainer @rakeshudiyar and his team @amol_kyatam and Mangesh for constantly making me sweat, scream and cry so that I could reach my goals. #HowIsTheJosh”

While the Sanju actor has trained with celebrity trainer Rakesh Udiyar to prep for his role, here are some tips fellow ectomorphs should keep in mind while on the quest to gain some muscle weight.

1. Sleep more:

When you give your body some rest, you are actually allowing it to recover from all the training and grow some muscles.

2. Eat more:

If you are slim-built, you should eat frequently to give your body the fuel it requires. Your diet should consist largely of calories and you should make it a habit to eat every few hours.

3. The right exercises:

Exercises like squats, deadlifts, shoulder press, bench press and rows, will help you build muscle faster.
